Say It Again: The Dialect Comeback (言归有方) -

The escape room is produced by NP's Chinese Media and Communication (CMC) as a Final Year Project. This project uses a thematic framework based on daily life to transform dialect heritage research into tactile escape rooms. Its success led to school outreach and adoption by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC).

Building on our pilot programme, we share how ChakapBot, Southeast Asia’s first AI chatbot for Baba Malay, has evolved into a more responsive and reliable tool for the community. Beyond research, the session also includes simple, hands-on moments to engage with and appreciate the language and culture.

The line between human-made and machine-generated is thinner than ever. From deepfake breaking news to "perfect" student essays, educators face an information crisis. This one-hour sharing session moves away from the "detect and punish" cycle to focus on pedagogical resilience. We will start by using tools to understand how AI constructs "truth" online. Then, we shift inward using a simple scorecard, let us rethink our classroom tasks to ensure they prioritize lived experience, critical process, and personal voice, elements a machine cannot replicate.

Dr. Zhang Huiyu is a Senior Academic Mentor at Temasek Polytechnic’s School of Informatics & IT. Leveraging a wealth of experience in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, she specializes in using technology to drive educational inclusivity. A recipient of several institutional and national honors for teaching excellence and innovation, her recent work focuses on using AI to preserve and revitalize heritage languages like Baba Malay, ensuring digital outcomes are both linguistically authentic and culturally grounded.

This hybrid workshop will involve customising AI assistants. Participants can attend in-person or online. If you are new to using GenAI assistants, it is recommended to attend in person in NYP, Blk A, Level 3, Room 321.

Case‑Based Learning (CBL) strengthens critical thinking, real‑world application, and reflective judgment. Generative AI enhances these outcomes by supporting rapid scenario creation, multimodal resources, personalised scaffolding, and efficient iteration of case variations. This workshop provides educators with the pedagogical foundations, practical techniques, and ethical considerations needed to integrate AI meaningfully into CBL. It also addresses GenAI’s inherent probabilistic behaviour and demonstrates how to apply constraints to produce consistent, reliable, and learning‑aligned case materials.

Designing Mobile Educational Escape Rooms for Active Learning is a hands-on workshop designed to support educators in creating engaging, mobile-friendly, and easy-to-implement escape rooms for use in their own teaching contexts. Participants will first experience an educational escape room from a learner’s perspective, encouraging reflection on student engagement, collaboration, and problem-solving. The workshop then guides participants through practical design structures, facilitation strategies, and implementation considerations. Working collaboratively with fellow participants and the EduEscape Creator Chatbot, participants will co-design an educational escape room aligned with their disciplinary needs and learning outcomes.
