The play "The Lovers" symbolizes a loss of connection, the mask on their faces that does not let them see reflects the emotional distance that Shukumar and Shoba experience, that is why I think it is perfect to present the story. Despite living together, both are emotionally distant due to the tragedy of the loss of their son.
