Students will analyze a story by reading it and paying attention to the main characters, setting, main events, and sequence of events. The stories will be given in groups of 4.

Understanding (comprehension)

Students will understand what they need to do to retell a story. Students will understand the order they tell the story, which details are important, and what details are not crucial to the story. Students will demonstrate understanding by taking the google form quiz on what to do to retell a story. This will ensure students understand.

Remembering (knowledge)

Students will demonstrate they remember the story they read by posting a summary of the story on the class whiteboard, and other students will read their replies.

Evaluation (evaluate)

The students and teacher will evaluate the other student's stories, and give positive feedback while telling students if they are missing any information that may be helpful to their story. Students will read the response posts of other students that had the same story as them.

Creating

Students will work with a group to create a 'comic strip' that can demonstrate their knowledge of retelling a story. The students will share their creation with the class.

Apply (application)

Students will apply their knowledge of what they have learned, from what to remember in their stories, to how to retell a story and apply this when they look at other students' stories. The teacher will read each group's book, and then the students will share their story retellings with the class. Students will tell apply their knowledge to tell other students how they did on their story retelling.
