Amber Rexford's Sticky Note

I think having a problem solving team is super important when it comes to implementing accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities. It is helpful to get the perspectives of multiple staff members that work with the student as well as the parents input. By doing this I think all of these team members will have an easier time coming up with solutions and analyzing data than if it were just the teacher alone.

"Supporting high-quality standards and research-based, culturally and linguistically relevant instruction with the belief that every student can learn including students of poverty, students with disabilities, English learners, and students from all ethnicities evident in the school and district cultures."

Alex Reyes

I think that maintaining high expectations for all students is extremely important in showing the value of each student. This idea supports each student and the mindset that every child can learn regardless of disability they might have. Many students can read their teachers and I believe that teachers need to maintain a positive and quality based mindset when working with students of all different levels. Sure they might not produce the same work due to their disability, but when you maintain the same high quality standards and keep in mind the diversity of the classroom, the teacher can realize how much each student brings to the classroom. The teacher can learn so much from their students if they just open their eyes to view it as an opportunity for growth not a challenge.

"MTSS is not designed for consideration in special education placement decisions, such as specific learning disabilities. MTSS focuses on all students in education contexts."

Armando Alvarado

I fell that it is important to have structures inlace that work for all students, that are not based on a disability. Educators need to be able to identify where students need to be supported, and not be categorised as a 'Special Need'. Students will be able to achieve their true potential when we as educators are able to regognize a students true potential and aid a student in achieving it.
