Learning impacted Malcolm X heavily. While he was in prison he taught himself to read and write which made me sound more eloquent in his letters. He also learned about the true history of African Americans and what they went through instead of what was told by white people.

Education transformed Malcolm X's life during his imprisonment. Initially frustrated by language limitations, he embarked on a self-directed, "homemade education", expanding his vocabulary and comprehension. This journey fueled an appetite for knowledge, pushing him to read books on diverse subjects. Education became a gateway to liberation, propelling Malcolm X beyond the prison walls. It not only enhanced his articulation but also helped propel to be him an influential advocate for civil rights.

How did education empower the author?

It’s difficult to quantify how Malcolm X was empowered by education. There is immense power in the effective use of knowledge and language to influence and lead people. Malcolm used what he learned about the world around him, about our history and the use of words to impact the world around him. With his words, he powerfully confronted prejudice. He gave a voice to a silenced people group, he inspired them to think differently and to feel differently about who they are as humans and changed the trajectory of countless lives with the words he spoke. I believe Malcolm X had the platform to accomplish this ultimately because of the knowledge and confidence gained from education and learning.

Malcolm X's experience with learning to read was a turning point in the his life. It opened doors that allowed him to reach his full potential. Education, for Malcolm X, wasn't something that came easy because it took endurance, determination, and lots of hard work. Education gave Malcolm X a voice, the power to influence others, a purpose, and ability to fight for change. In a way, education is what allowed the author to develop his identity and become who he was meant to be. Malcolm X describes learning to read as the event in which he became "mentally alive", it changed every aspect of his life.

“Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs only to the people who prepare for it today.” (Malcolm X) This quote by Malcolm X embodies his ultimate belief that education is the key to one's success, so much so that he devoted his life to empowering and educating other minorities to stand up for themselves. Eventually Malcolm ended up teaching himself things such as reading and writing while in a prison cell. This was a profound experience, being able to understand and express himself through words was previously unthinkable, and a “new world” had been opened up to him. Not long after this Malcolm realized that he could also impact others with his recently acquired education, and natural gifts of leadership and public speaking. After educating himself, he was made aware of societal issues and inequalities that have been common themes over much of history. Because of this, he chose to make a stand, and is considered one of the most prominent black civil rights activists ever. Not only did education empower Malcolm X, but was also his most valuable tool in empowering others as well.

When it comes to learning how to write you have to grab your readers attention, in Malcom X, he stated reading and writing impacted him because he taught himself. He wanted to learn and he learned how to go beyond what he wanted to know because of what most people don't talk about. He wanted to impact others with his writing and what he learned from being in prison.

Learning how to read had a major impact on Malcolm X's life. By learning how to read, he had a skill that would help him get ahead in life. By reading, he learned about his history and new ways of thinking. Access to information is empowerment, so learning how to read inspired him to become an activist and dispel myths about people like him.

Education for Malcolm X was an enlightenment. It showed him what happened to his people and gave him a goal that a lot of people would follow. It made him a very vivid speaker causing people to want to listen to his speeches. His time in prison gave him the opportunity to teach himself and allow him the access to a tool he'd hold deeply.

Baca was truly influenced heavily by education, and his story still inspires me. It's simple to me, he had almost felt like he had nothing. He was inspired by his struggles and his past, often times questioning the true morals of the whole world. He would sit in his prison cell and write, because he needed a purpose. I think that was the thing that really stood out to me, because my mom has said the same thing to me. "You need to find a purpose in life." He took his education and his trauma and together created a beautiful power of writing with flows of personification and deep philosophy that was ultimately captivating.

Learning was a very impactful for Baca, because it was a way for him to share his education experiences. Through his struggles with education, he was able to relive and share these difficult but motivating moments. Through learning he learned how to read and write he was able to be express himself. His words are vivid and can transport you with his descriptive work. If Baca had not pushed himself to learn to read and write, he would not be where he is today, he would not be an inspiration to a lot of south American people. It transformed his life and he was able to find a positive place in society.

Education and learning impacted BACA during the hard times he had to face because he dropped out of school in the 9th grade with no knowledge on how to read or write. When he got imprisoned he was able to grow a passion for writing, being behind bars forced him to read and write, Baca says "Through language I was free. I could respond, escape, indulge; embrace or reject earth or the cosmos." Baca wrote about the injustice that he's faced and all of his experiences he's faced through his lifetime, the love, the hardships, and all the good moments he had.
