This image really shows the different levels of society in ancient Egypt. The order goes pharaohs, priests/nobles, traders/ merchants, farmers, slaves. Social classes were a part of the Egyptians everyday lives and many things they did involved them.

This image shows the god Anubis (god of the dead), weighing a soul against a feather. It was believed that when you died this would happen and if your soul weighed more than the feather, then you'd be punished in the afterlife.

Even though they may be priests or people of a higher social class they are still showing respect to the pharaoh because they have the biggest amount of power. They also worship him/her because the citizens believe that the gods will help them in the afterlife.
