The House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), a committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, investigated allegations of communist activity in the U.S. during the early years of the Cold War(1945-91).

"Established in 1938, the committee weilded its power its subpeana power as a weapon and called citizens to testify in high profile hearings before congress."

This is shows how a group of people sometimes abused their power to bring people in and question them in court. This is just like how the women in the story were able to say one thing and then the people were brought into court just because of hear-say. And then once the people were accused of witchcraft the court was able to get away with extreme punishments for little evidence of guilt. The court abused their power.

This shows how the government wasn't 100% sure on who to trust and its like this with the witch craft.

Witch craft scared the people just like communism did during the red scare.  

Summary: 
During the Red Scare many people were afraid of the Communist. This compares to witch craft because people were also afraid of them. Most people wanted the communist gone just like they did the witch craft but were handing it all wrong in the courts. During the Hollywood ten incident they were blacklisted by Hollywood industries because they would not give names, just like when tituba and John Proctor would not say anything and being black listed is a metaphorical comparison to being hanged like John Proctor.  
"I am not on trial here" 
This quote is from the Hollywood ten article and is compared to the crucible because some of the people that were being questioned weren't even involved and the people who asking the questions like John Hale had no right to ask any.
