Answer the writing prompt: 1, What are the 3 types of Plate Boundaries? 2. What direction does each type of plate move? (move away from each other, move towards each other, or slide past one another) 3. What happens at each type of plate boundary? 4. What are the 3 types of convergent plate boundaries? 5. What features are associated with each type of convergent plate boundary? Include pictures of the different types of plate boundaries.

Divergent plates move away from each other, and Convergent boundaries slide towards each other and may collide.

Divergent plate boundaries cause volcanic eruptions and shallow earthquakes where the plates rip apart. Magma also rises from the Earth's mantle forming an ocean crust. Convergent plate boundaries cause volcanoes to erupt on the overriding plate and earthquakes at a variety of depths. Due to collisions, the impact of the colliding plates causes the edges to buckle up into mountain ranges or bend down into a seafloor trench. In Transform plates, an earthquake may occur from the rock breaking off.

The 3 types of convergent plate boundaries are oceanic-continental, oceanic-oceanic, and continental-continental.

The geological features that are formed at convergent plate boundaries include volcanoes, volcanic arcs, mountains especially in arcs, oceanic trenches, and island arcs.

Convergent plates collide with one another making mountains when the plates keep building on one another.

4) Ocean- Continent, Continent-Continent, Ocean-Ocean.

5) Ocean-Continent, is the area where the oceanic plate descends into the upper mantle, this is called a subduction zone. Continent-Continent is when two colliding plates have the same density neither plate is subducted, the plates experience uplifting instead. Ocean-Ocean is the part of the subducted plate melts, and the resulting molten rock rises to the surface along the trench to form a chain of volcanic islands, called an island arc.
