Initially I thought of it as a burden as we have lots of projects in hand as a final year student and we need to do a board like art and craft. Moreover, we need to find and buy materials for the board which is time consuming and waste of money (however, I spent less than RM10).

 

However, half way thru completing it, I find it kind of fun as we were doing cutting and pasting which is out of the norms as fy student. I enjoyed doing the 3D model the most. Originally, my partner and I were confused of what to be written on the board and what kind of points madam wants as madam said she wants to see there’s a story in it. We had a tough time thinking on that. Lastly, we were still able to come up with a board which we were both satisfied with.

 

As I said earlier, it is out of the norm as a fy student and doing cutting and pasting. It is a way for us to understand and remember better on the perforation designs which might be helpful for our test and finals even if we were asked to draw perforation charges. It was definitely different from class lectures too. Our first meeting was without any materials and we actually took paper boxes from V5 mart as our base. Then I realize, we save cost on the board! YAY! And using materials were supposed to be recycled by the uncle.

 

In the future, I shouldn’t jump into conclusion and dignify something without trying it out yet. However, I still have a 50/50 feeling of doing art work during final year. Not only that, I find mind mapping and writing important points down from the lecture notes is very helpful in understanding and memorizing with the help of figures.

 

If I was given this assignment again I wouldn’t jump into conclusion saying it is a burden because I had fun doing it. It’s like taking a break from the normal work. Now, as I understand what kind of linkage madam wants, I think I would be able to do a better job in summarizing the topic next time and can apply when I study for test and exams.

Despite the medium size of the board that we bought, we managed to filter the important ideas and squeeze them into the visual board. Perhaps, we should buy a bigger board for similar assignment next time. 

WST assignment 2 is about designing a 2D & 3D visual board about perforation. The purpose of this assignment is to enhance the students’ understanding about perforation using visual and other sensory organs. 

Initially I thought this project is a burden as there are a lot of projects for a final year student and we need to spend a lot of time cutting and designing the visual board. 

While doing the visual board, I felt it is not too heavy, and I gained more understanding about the topic and I need to ‘google’ the pictures and videos of perforation in order to design the 3D model of visual board. 

After completing the project, I found that all of the designing parameters play major role in perforating and will greatly affect the performance of the perforation. 

In conclusion, this project is good for students in order to gain understanding about the topic. But the lecturer should consider the time efficiency and the learning outcome of the projects. Most probably order kind of projects which is less time consuming and able to achieve greater learning outcomes. 

If this kind of projects arose again, I will strongly recommend lecturer to give other kind of projects.

20436 - WST Assignment 2 (Perforation) 

We have been given a task to create a 2D and 3D visual board on perforation topic. This time assignment was done in pair and some creativity skills are needed to present and to summarize all of the ideas on just a one square cardboard. 

 

At first, we all felt it was a tiring stuff to do with the time constraint that we have. However, during the project, we realized that it is the only time we have to chat with our friends, laugh at each other’s model and somehow create a lively moment between our coursemates. 

 

This kind of assignment is a very good practice for us to think creatively and beyond the scope of the study. It helps us to appreciate the knowledge on perforation and thus giving us a more clearer view on perforation. 

 

Again, due to time constraint, we felt that we could have done much better and much beautiful visual board to present to Madam. 

 

Overall, the assignment has taught us the beauty of perforation and gave us a clear understanding on the types and how perforation is done. 

 

For the next task, we will try to understand first on how to do the assignment before anything. Give it a try based on our understanding and sit down and review with Madam more often to improve our works. 

 

 

Throughout the designing of the visual board. plenty knowledges have been grown while doing the project, such as group working and the creativity to do the 2D and 3D model. which my duty was to construct the 3D model of GUN, in fact it takes me a bit time to figure out how to do it in a nice way, while my partner used to do the 2D and the design of the white cardboard. 

 

This kind of assignment is a very good practice and more enjoyable for us to think creatively on the behalf of the certain title. It benefits us to gain the knowledge and information on perforation and thus giving us clear view about the topic itself. 

 

while the constriction of the project, me and my partner we felt like we have done a lot of effort on 2D and 3D, and the lecturer will appreciate what we done.

 

As evaluation, the assignment has taught me a lot of info and knowledge regarding perforation and earned me a clear and full view on the perforation.

For the perforation Assignment, we are required to present the illustration of perforation design through visual board with the aid of diagrams and description. Besides, this assignment need to be done in pair and students were given about two weeks to finish the assignment. The objective of this assignment is to understand the effects of various perforation techniques including the perforating gun and perforation phasing.  
 
 Moreover, this assignment is required to use recycle materials. At first, we were having some difficulties to design the visual board and not sure what recycle materials we need to use since we do not understand the topic yet. However, once we go through the slide, we manage to build a perforating gun as well as perforation phasing by using recycle material such as polystyrene, papers, cotton bud and some old box. Furthermore, we gained more knowledge while designing the visual board and we had fun time during this assignment although it is final year.  
 
 We have learned more on perforating gun and perforation phasing. It has been really helpful as we need to do more research and reading while doing this assignment and this is quite relevant for those who are taking major in production. Besides the knowledge that we get, another important aspect is we can test our creativity in designing the visual board as creative as possible to make the visual board more representable and the most important part is that people can understand. 

 

Therefore, this assignment is an alternative way to make students have a clear and better understanding on the particular topics or subjects. Creating visual board is an interesting learning process. Last but not least, I would like to thank Madam Putri for having this kind of assignment.

Description 

We assigned to create a 2D and 3D visual board on perforation topic. The visual board will summarize what we have learnt about perforation in the class. The assignment was a pair assignment and we need to finish the visual board in two weeks. 

Feelings 

I was quite surprised when lecturer announce about the assignment because it will consume a lot of time and we might not able to finish it. However, I we manage to finish everything in time and overall we satisfy with the visual board that we created. 

Evaluation 

This assignment will bring positive impact to the since it helps student to visualize what they learnt in the class hence improving their understanding. However, this assignment required time and also cooperation from the pair to finish it in time. 

Analysis 

The assignment actually improved the understanding about perforation topic by helping student visualize what we learnt in the class into 3D model. The 3D model will act as tools to describe perforation mechanism such as perforating gun and perforation phasing. 

Conclusion 

Overall, the assignment quite fun and I enjoyed while doing it with my friend. This assignment also helps me visualize what we have learnt in the class hence improving my understanding on perforation. 

Action Plan 

Required proper planning of what information we want to include in the board since we have limited space and also limited materials to create the 3D model. 

We were provided with a second assignment on perforating design. This assignment involves designing a visual board (2D and 3D illustration) with information on perforation design conducted on a pairing basis concept. In addition, this assignment is to be completed within a total of one and a half weeks’ time. 

Initially I felt the burden and extreme difficulties in completing this assignment as it requires creativity and arts and craft which is the weakest point for me. Besides having many other important works progressing along, the time required to conduct this project already provided me negativity feelings altogether. However, with my teammate we manage to complete it within a day because we were effective and efficient in handling this project as we made proper pre-planning. So, during the day of completion of the vison board, everything went on smoothly and the vision board looked amazingly good. 

Overall, I had a good experience performing this assignment because it allows me to learn and apply the knowledge on perforation and to deliver it visually on the board. Besides that, we also had a lot of time building the model together 😊 

From this assignment, I learned the concept of perforating gun, the factors that should be considered in designing the guns to be able to perform effectively. Besides going through the slides, I also conducted further research through the net and watched videos on perforating gun to be able to capture more understanding on this topic and thus deliver it on the vision board. 

To conclude, we were given a different approach to tackle this assignment and this method thought me a lot as compared to the normal way of doing assignments. It is a new experience that I have faced in my university life and should be recommended in other courses as well as a form of active learning. All in all it was a good assignment so thank you madam for giving us the opportunity to do so. 
Proper planning should be conducting prior to designing this vision board to save time and to produce a  good quality work.

In the second assignment for WST, we were asked to design a visual board about perforation design and factors that must be considered to choose the perforation design. The visual board also must include basic information 2D and 3D designs of perforation guns. The time duration given was just 3 weeks and creativity was a major criteria of evaluation of the assignment. This caused me to spend some pennies to buy materials such as aerosol paint and card board. 

Initially, I felt angry because my degree is in petroleum engineering and not in graphic designing. Furthermore, designing, crafting and colouring is not my cup of tea. It put extra pressure on me to finish the assignment. Plus, the ongoing FYP and FDP projects left me with very less time to start planning for the assignment. This caused me to rush to finish the assignment a couple of days before the dateline.  However, with the help of my teammate, I was able to finish the assignment in time and with required quality and content. 

Overall, I had a very fun experience in designing the  3D perforation gun using an old shampoo bottle. The designing process actually helped me to release the stress I was under from the heavy workload from FYP and FDP. Apart from that, I also learned so many different ways to recycle the used items. 

The assignment provided me valuable knowledge on different type of perforation gun and factors that dictates the perforation design selections. To obtain more information about the perforation gun, I did several research using journals and academic papers published online as well as studying books borrowed from IRC. At the end of the assignment, I realised that I learned a lot by doing this visual board than reading through the lecture slides 

In conclusion, this assignment was completely different from any assignments we ever had before. This caused some anxiety in myself and caused me to negatively perceive the outcome of the assignment. I should  learned to approach all the problems and tasks assigned to me in a positive manner. 

If I face the same situation again, I will draft a timetable and allocate adequate time to finish all the assignment in a timely manner. I should develop a positive mind set about the tasks given to me by thinking about the benefits of the assignments rather than difficulties in completing them. 

 

20279- WST Assignment 2                                                                                                                                     We were assigned by madam to create a visual board on perforation design. This assignment is done by referring to the slides provided and online sources to search for necessary information to create a visual board which consist of basic information on factors to be considered in perforation design, 2D and 3D design of perforating guns. 

 I felt it could have been fun if the assignment was not given during the hectic weeks of the semester with a lot of other tasks left to be completed. Other than that, I assumed the assignment will be time consuming and not worth it.  However, after consulting Madam Putri, the scope of work was made clear and it eased the task. 

I was able to gain knowledge in an interesting way by designing the 3D model perforator visual board. I get to identify the advantage and disadvantage of each shaped charge container and the major factors affecting the depth of perforation tunnel into the formation.  
 
I felt that I could have produced a better and much beautiful visual board if there was no time constraint. 

In a nutshell, the assignment has enlightened me on the types and how perforation is done by analysing multiple factors in building a 3 D model representing a perforating gun. 

 

For the next task, I will try to understand first on how to do the assignment before anything. Give it a try based on our understanding and consult Madam to improve my work. Lastly, I should think more creative and innovative to solve such assignments.

 Feelings
This assignment was given when were in midst of doing both FYP & FDP which was very time consuming. I was feeling confused and scared whether I will be able to complete the assignment in given time and give a proper work.  However, it all went well, and I was able to complete assignment with my teammate. 

 Evaluation
Even though this assignment consumes time, but this is also important as a revision and also will be a useful knowledge for our test. It also helps us to understand more on perforating design. 

 Analysis 

Perforating design is on of the main topics to be covered under production major as it is about production optimization. Moreover, by building a 3D model help us to visualize the real perforating process. This is very helpful for us to gain a better understanding on the perforation since we didsome additional research to complete the assignment. 

 Conclusion 

To conclude, initially it was difficult to complete the assignment since we had a pack schedule during final year, but we still managed to accomplish it. I am really happy that I am able to accomplish the assignment within time and was able to learn more perforating design.

The assignment was time consuming. I was worried whether I will be able to complete the assignment on time, but with the help of my partner I was able to complete the assignment on given time. 

 Evaluation 

The assignment covered theoretical part of perforating design and understanding how a perforating design looks in an industrial applications. The assignment would have difficult to complete on time if the assignment was an individual assignment. 

 Analysis
