Greetings President Roosevelt,

I am writing to inform you about the dangers of Executive Order 9066. First, I’d like to tell you that the Executive Order 9066 is unconstitutional and that you should stop it now. Under the Fifth Amendment, you have denied Japanese Americans their rights. You have also broken the Constitution under the 14th Amendment, which is basically giving equal rights to all citizens, including Japanese American citizens.

Moreover, I want you to take action and stop this act of putting people of any sort of Japanese descent into internment camps, for I am sure most or all of us are not spies for the Japanese government. Furthermore, I’d like to inform you of the horrible conditions of the internment camps you are putting us in. In Camp Harmony, there are homes that are the size of a living room where an entire family may be squished together into it as their home. My friend in Camp Harmony has even described the homes in Camp Harmony as an oversized chicken farm. She even told me she felt like a criminal because of the fence surrounding her.

Additionally, people have even thrown rocks at Japanese Americans, even though they are not spies for the Japanese government. Furthermore, I want to address that you have done a horrible act with Executive Order 9066 and I advise you to take action and stop Executive Order 9066. Finally, I urge you to think about how you are putting all of us in America who have Japanese descent into internment camps, even though most or all of us are probably not spies for the Japanese government. Thank you very much, President Roosevelt.

From Yua

Link: Letter to FDR

It was New York City, in 2038. Genesis, who had blonde hair and freckles all over her face, lived in a small college dorm. She lived happily on a $19 wage per hour. She was kind and outgoing and had a great friend group, Adrianna and Kelly. Routinely, she cared for her small tomato plant from her grandma. Moreover, she used her savings to learn tennis. “Shoot, I think I’ll be late today,” Genesis hesitated. Genesis stuffed her food into her mouth and brushed off the crumbs from the cookie that was as hard as a rock, but still edible. Then, she tied the shoelaces on her freshly bought shoes.

Read more here: The Bite

Dispatch 3: Metaverse Articles

(The Authentic vs. The Inauthentic)

To begin with, there is much evidence in metaverse articles that have the overall theme of The Authentic vs. The Inauthentic. For example, the article 'Humans Will Live In the Metaverse Soon', Claims Mark Zuckerburg. What About Reality? states "All of the benefits we get from meeting in person, or even via video chats, can be recreated in VR, according to Zuckerburg.." This gives an example of the theme of Authentic vs. Inauthentic because authentically, people meet up in person. But, the inauthentic version of this is meeting up in VR. Another quote that gives evidence of the theme of Authentic vs. Inauthentic is when the article Metaverse clothing, travel, plastic surgery: Experts predict life in 2030 says "Imagine scaling Everest, swimming with hammerheads or skydiving over the Grand Canyon --- without ever leaving your living room." In this case, authentically you would have to scale Mount Everest, swim with hammerheads, or skydive over the Grand Canyon in real life. But, in this case, you could inauthentically do all of this through the metaverse. In conclusion, this is proof that lots of evidence of the theme of The Authentic vs. The Inauthentic can be found through articles about the metaverse.

Link: The Authentic vs. The Inauthentic

Informative Paragraph on Propaganda

To begin with, governments can use propaganda to create a false idea about someone or something to ultimately create either a positive or negative stereotype. For example, the Nazi used propaganda to create a negative stereotype about the Jews. Moreover, the image below shows an example of Nazi propaganda that was used to create a negative stereotype about the Jews. Additionally, this image from the US Holocaust Museum website portrays a stereotyped Jew that conspires behind the scenes to control the Allied powers, in which the Allied powers were portrayed as the flags. Furthermore, this sets a negative stereotype for the Jews because the Allied powers were enemies of the Nazi. Ultimately, this Nazi propaganda portrayed Jews being the ones engaged in conspiracy to provoke war. To conclude, propaganda can manipulate someone’s thinking.

(The image is above instead of below for this Padlet)

Image: Caption Translation: “Behind the enemy powers: the Jew.” Circa 1942 / US Holocaust Memorial Museum, courtesy of Helmut Eschwege

Link: How Propaganda Can Manipulate Someone's Thinking
