         <description><![CDATA[<div>Distress - this is a bad form of stress, it's a extreme form of anxiety, nervousness or apprehension. This is caused perceived inability to make or meet demands.</div><div>An example of this is Jean Da De Velde’s poor performance at the 1999 British open.</div><div><br></div><div>Eustress-this is a beneficial form of stress that can give feelings of fulfillment, some athletes actively pursue stressful situations because it leads intrinsic motivation. An example of this is Jonny Wilkinson taking a conversion kick.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There could be internal reasons for stress these can include illness, psychological factors and lack of sleep.<br><br><br></div><div>External causes which can include the sporting environment, negative social situations, major life events and day to day hassles.</div><div><br></div><div>Sporting situations- includes the importance of the event and uncertainty of the event.</div><div>Personal factors include other people in athlete’s life, finances and lifestyle.</div><div><br></div><div>Symptoms of stress can include a sympathetic nervous system which creates your fight or flight instinct which gives you the energy to fight or run from a threat. Other symptoms are increased heart rate, increased breathing rate, increased heat production, increased adrenaline production, muscle tension, hairs on your body stand up, increased metabolism, dry mouth and pupil dilation.</div><div><br></div><div>Once you have relaxed your parasympathetic nervous system helps you relax by relaxing your muscles, metabolism slowing, a drop in body temperature, heart rate slows down, breathing rate decreases, saliva production and pupils constrict.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
