In the beginning Bruno finds out that he and his family are leaving Berlin to take residence somewhere near a concentration camp where is dad becomes the commandment. One day, while sitting around feeling lonely, he decides to go to the large fence and on the other side of the barbed wire fence finds a Jewish boy named Shmuel that is his age and has the same birthday. The only difference is that Shmuel is scrawny and bald. Though a barbed wire fence is in the way, the boys become friends. Bruno crawls under the fence and finds out what life is like on the other side of the barbed wire fence. I love this book and I will definitely be purchasing this book for myself.

In the picture it shows an enslaved doctor that is a Jew that was forced to give up being a doctor and became a slave, if he gets caught doing something a doctor would do he would get in serious trouble.

He got lice and had to shave his head already so he would fit in with that feature already. Then he crawls under the fence to help Shmuel find his dad but sadly fails and they don't find him before the other side calls him missing. The mom and sister go back to Berlin thinking he might be there but to there surprise ha wasn't.

I thought it was a good picture because it is the exact boy used when they filmed the movie. Plus it shows some of the fence. Along with, Bruno, It shows the difference in their lifestyles.

All Jewish people were kicked from their homes and had all their clothes and belongings taken away and replaced with a prison fit. Just because of their religion. I learned that they didn't just live on that side of a giant barbed wire fence, They had to work there too. They had certain jobs that had to be completed in order to not get a beating. Shmuel's father used to be a watch maker but because of his religion had to give it up to be a slave to the non- Jewish people. The Jewish had to build their own huts to live in because they didn't have a house. It showed me how spoiled most people are and how lucky some are to even have a house and clothes that are different that everyone else's
