I guess we need more data about reading habits beyond the walls of the school and the limits of curricula. We know which books are sold, but we don't really know which books are read at home.

I think a lot of interesting issues arose from this panel, and I found the pedagogical applications very interesting. But perhaps, the main message is how to use literature as a tool through which to raise awareness of environmental issues. Literature creates emotional affect' and thus is a useful medium to raise children's consciousness of such issues.
