The Renaissance is its own era, separate from the Middle Ages. This is due to big changes in beliefs and values. In the Middle Ages, God and religion was a bigger value than oneself, whereas in the Renaissance, the value of oneself became the forefront with self expression, talent, and such. Thus making the Renaissance its own era.

The Renaissance was its own specific era because during the Renaissance people began to think more critically and think more about their own opinions as well as science and less about religion. The Black Plague separates the Middle ages and the Renaissance on the timeline and there was a change in population, culture, government, science, and trading that resulted from the tragedy and caused a clear divide between the two eras.

The Late Middle Ages were a dark period of time and didn't have as many advancements in technology as some other eras. The Renaissance was a new era because there were new advancements in technology and there were new ways of thinking such as humanism and more focus on a secular life compared to the very religious Middle Ages.

The Renaissance was a continuation of the Late Middle Ages. This is because there is little evidence on an increase in educational learning. A lot of people also say that the Renaissance was a time where art was commonly made including literature, paintings, and even some architecture. This has been debunked because it was just about as much art during the Middle Ages as the Renaissance.

In the middle ages, the church ran most of europe and had lots of power over most of the stuff that people did.

Both eras have their similarities, but ultimately the Renaissance is its own specific era. The Black Plague created a rift between the two, separating them by survival of the fittest. The Renaissance focused more on logic rather than faith and superstition, overriding the old ideas of the Late Middle ages. Despite both eras being heavily religious, people during the Renaissance began leaning toward a secular way of life.
