The Renaissance is its own era, separate from the Middle Ages. This is due to big changes in beliefs and values. In the Middle Ages, God and religion was a bigger value than oneself, whereas in the Renaissance, the value of oneself became the forefront with self expression, talent, and such. Thus making the Renaissance its own era.
