This is an advanced nursing program, which is condensed into two years instead of four. The requirement for a bachelor's degree qualifies me for the program. As well, I obtained good scores on the other prereqs required and have a competitive GPA. Since I will be applying for January 2025, I do not have to apply until the beginning of next year. I am also interested in this nursing program due to the fact that it is slightly shorter than the other nursing programs available. Compared to other programs, this program can be completed in approximately three years. In addition, this program's requirements are less stringent than others like UBC, so I have a better chance of getting in. I have also completed the appropriate prerequisites with good grades, which will give me a good chance. In addition to KPU's program, I will have to apply to my education BC at the beginning of this year for contacts.

Since I am still completing my degree at UFV, I am not looking to apply for other school programs until January 2025. As for qualifications, I believe that I would be qualified for a masters program. I am a very hardworking dedicated student, with lots of working and volunteer experiences. Although I want to go in the direction of nursing, I have often thought on just building a career in Psychology. I think before I apply to grad schools, I want to have a meeting with an advisor at schools of interest to get more information about the programs.

I love volunteering and I am interested in getting involved with another organization. I have been interested in applying to a new volunteer position that was recently posted a coast mental health. Since I have previous experience volunteering at a mental health facility, I believe that gives me an advantage. Working in mental health is not for everyone, and I think having some experience can really benefit a volunteer. I have not applied yet, as I am still researching other opportunities that might suit me better.

When thinking about volunteering, I look for positions that will allow me to make a difference in the lives of others. At my last volunteer position, I was told about the crisis center and why volunteering there is so important. The crisis center offers many services that offer chat and phone support to people in need.

Here are some of the general requirements that they want volunteers to have:

• Must reside in the Lower Mainland for all training and volunteering

• Must be 19 years of age at the time the training group starts

• Ability to convey respect and care to people in crisis

• Willingness to receive and apply constructive feedback

• Comfortable and competent in using computers

• Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills

• Ability to work independently within a team

• Proficiency in verbal and written English

• Ability to multi-task

• Willingness to engage in ongoing training for the tenure of your volunteer work with the Crisis Centre

• Willingness to align with the Crisis Centre policies and protocols

• Life experience or education that enhances the knowledge or serves the needs of the community, preferred

Looking at those criteria, I would be an extremely good candidate for this position. Although it may be really tough to have to support someone who is having suicidal thoughts, I may be able to save their life which is amazing.

I have often thought that I should go to school for psychiatric nursing rather than regular nursing. The only downfall of psych nursing is that it limits you to where you are able to work. As an RN, you can work almost everywhere, but psychiatric nurses have special training specifically in mental health, and some hospitals won't hire psychiatric nurses due to the fact that their education is different. Nonetheless, I still believe it would be a good path for me. Again, I will be applying for January 2025, so I will apply to this program at the start of this coming year. My mom is a registered Nurse and works for the Nurses Line. She works in a really nice office, answering all types of phone calls, assisting patients over the phone. I have always been interested in my moms job and wanted to work there for a long time. There are other jobs through the nurses line that do not require a degree in nursing. I could get on working as a call navigator. When the call comes in, it is first directed to a call navigator that can then decide the severity of the caller and then re-direct them if needed. This job requires good attention to detail, and focus which are all qualities that I have. This is a job that I would apply to right away, but I have to wait till they are hiring again. My mom has given me the email that they take application at, so I am prepared when they are hiring again.

Although this job would not be long-term, I have recently applied to work at Lululemon. Throughout my time working at university, I have always worked a part-time job. I still have a decent gap between finishing my degree and starting another program and have been wanting to get a new job for a long time. I feel that there are not going to be many times in my life where I can work at a fun retail job and it has always been on my bucket list of places to work. I have many years of retail job experience, and live an active lifestyle which is why this job is a good fit for me. In order to contact me, I went down to the Lulu location that I was interested in and dropped off my resume. I am still waiting to hear back but I hope I get the job!

Similarly to the last post, I thought I should include some potential jobs that are not related to my future profession. Aritzia is another one of my dream retail jobs as I love to shop there. People who work at Aritzia have to be extremely focal with clients and ensuring that they are getting excellent service. Aritzia is on the more expensive side of clothing which is why they require their staff to have really good communication skills. I think I would thrive in this type of work environment as I love talking to people and helping them shop for clothes. As I stated before, I found out that my local Aritzia was hiring so I decided to apply. Similarly to Lulu, I have not heard back yet but I hope I get called for an interview.

Lastly, I recently applied at my local Michaels which is another one of my favourite stores. One of my biggest hobbies that I do is crafting. I love to draw, scrapbook, paint, and do basically anything that is creative. I have always wanted to work at Michaels because I would love to work at a place that sells creativity. Since I have lots of retail experience, I believe that I am highly qualified to work at Michaels.
