Trigger
A Malaysian dairy farm is producing cheese. The wastewater produced has a COD of 30 g / L, pH 7.0 and a C:N:P:S:Mg ratio of 100:0.5:0.1:0.01:0.001. A one-phase anaerobic digester(AD) is currently used to treat the wastewater. It is operated at an organic loading rate (OLR) of 5 g COD / (L d). Trace metals nickel, cobalt and zinc in the wastewater were detected at 1 ppb, 0.5 ppb and 50 ppb. The operational temperature in the reactor is 35 ± 15°C. The effluent of the AD has a COD of 10’000 mg/L and a pH of 5.3 and was found to not comply with the industrial effluent regulation.

The reactor use are the AD reactor. Maybe, the factory can change the AD to another reactor which may reduce or avoid the uncomply problem.

2. The operational temperature used also need to be control.
