Once the survey of the needs is done, have a round of some sort of voting for the main topics to be addressed - this way they would really come from the group.

Find a way to enable more time to discuss topics/questions and not to rush through them.

Have daily check-in meetings for feedback and planning (focused and constructive :)

If half a day is planned for an excursion, plan to have some work done as well - it is a lot of time to allocate from an anyway short meeting.

Excursion, valued informal time, combine with activities? plan in advance.
