Teddy Bear Urn

This would have looked very different two months ago, however, my cat of 18 years who was my best friend passed away on April 19th of this year. Thankfully, the cremation services had a teddy bear urn which I bought for my boy. Since I got his ashes back, I have done everything with that teddy bear, from sleeping to going to practicum (although I leave him in my car so that I do not lose him or so he does not get wrecked). Having this teddy bear with me makes me feel more comfortable, and makes me feel like he is still here with me everyday.

Diamond Paintings

Diamond paintings are exactly as they sound; painting pictures with diamonds. These have similar benefits for mental health as coloring or painting; it helps to calm anxiety and relaxation. Concentrating on the painting in front of me rather than the stressors in which I am currently dealing with helps me practice mindfulness.

Meal- Prep and Eating Healthy

I have always been really bad for last-minute decisions on what to make for dinner, and not packing a lunch. This is especially bad for me with the fact of my physical health particularly when I miss a meal. More recently, however, I have really put effort into planning my meals and making sure I have the proper groceries for it. This also means I have been making extra food for dinner so I can take it to my practicum for lunch for the days after. Meal prepping and planning my meals out has helped me to stay on top of eating healthy, has decreased my stress as to what to eat every day, and is helping me just be more organized.

Keep a Good Sleep Schedule

After having a very randomized and irregular sleep schedule after working nights, and having school in the mornings, sleep hygiene is one thing I have not been very good at. It has also been motivating my insomnia to keep me awake. That is why when I started my practicum, I also started abiding by a sleep hygiene schedule. For me this involves going to bed at the same time every night, spending half an hour before going to sleep reading a book with no electronic screens on, and keeping my bed clean and made. This has already helped me conquer my insomnia and get better and more restful sleeps at night.

Every time I have a few days off, I often go out to my mother's place just past Waiprous village. When I go there, I tend to spend the majority of my time outside in nature. This helps me to relax, practice mindfulness, and bring myself back to reality after a stressful week.
