The claim being made in this WLWT article is "The pressure of being a kid is taking more and more teenagers and preteens down a dark path." The first main point they make to support this claim is "...in recent years they have seen a 5 to 10 percent increase in kids with mental health issues coming into the emergency room..." They used this statistic because it is helping prove their point that mental health is a growing issue in kids and teenagers. Another main point they make is that Ryle High School made a group so no one feels alone. This group started out with only 6 or 7 members. Now, it has dozens show up for each meeting. The students who attend these meetings feel like they have people they can always talk to. They use mostly statistics, but they also use students experiences with the group and the mental health in general.

The author wrote this text to inform Northern Kentucky and the greater Cincinnati area about the severity of mental issues in teens. A rhetorical device the author uses that is effective is personal pronouns. At one part of the article it says "Am I sleeping too much? It's too hard for me to get out of bed? Is it now getting to the point where I don't want to eat? Or I don't have an appetite. I'm becoming socially withdrawn from my friends and family, I just want to be alone...." This is effective because it is telling some thoughts and actions that teens with mental health issues might have. The author uses ethos to explain that teens shouldn't suddenly lose interest in the things they were once passionate about. By using personal pronouns, the author can use ethos more effectively because it helps the reader to better connect with what the author has written.

20% of youth ages 13-18 live with mental health condition.11% of youth have a mood disorder.8% of youth have an anxiety disorder. These statistics surprised me because i didn't realize that there was that many teens struggling with mental health issues. This is actually a really serious issue. These statistics are dramatically increasing more and more as kids are having more and more technology and social media into their life. I think social media is a large impact of kids mental health because people use it for cyber-bullying and that makes kids feel bad about themselves and in return they get sad and depressed .A lot of kids do not want to go to school anymore because of the bullying that is taking place at school and it has gotten worse and worse over the years.

Text #1: "Homeless Students in Northern Kentucky are Hiding in Plain Sight"

The claim being made in this piece is homeless students in Northern Kentucky are hiding in plain sight. WCPO uses 2 students as examples of students who were homeless, but never thought of themselves as homeless because they always had a roof over their head. The 2 students names are Tessa Bowling and Zander Hughes. Bowling was kicked out of her house when she was sixteen. Hughes ran away from his abusive father when he was 17. Bowling stayed at a shelter where she tried to stay on the down low because she did not want people to know she was living at a shelter. Hughes was sleeping on friends couches and did not have as stable of a home as Bowling did. Bowling's home wasn't the most stable, but she knew she, for sure , had a place to sleep at night. Hughes couldn't say the same. He didn't always know how long he could crash at friends house. This article used pathos because it was telling the story on 2 homeless teens.

The purpose of this article is to tell people about the homeless and the amount of homeless in the Greater Cincinnati area. A rhetorical device the author used that was effective was imagery. The first paragraph of the article stated "Tarps draped over tree limbs, purple Crocs in the mud. A bag of Grippo's two old mattresses and a toppled yellow mustard container are strewn in a clearing of a woods in Newport. Muddy coolers , broken furniture . A neatly hung grocery beg for trash" This is using imagery very effectively because when I first read it, I immediately pictures all of the things the author described. The author used a lot of logos in this article.(S)he did this because having logic in the article is helping to prove the point that many people are homeless, and the numbers are really high

3.5 million Americans experience homelessness every year.1.35 million American children will experience homelessness this year. 800,000 American men, women and children experience homelessness each night. I didn't realize there was this many homeless people. When I saw some of the statistics in this article, I was in awe. There are so many uncontrollable reasons people are homeless. For example , mental health is one reason people are homeless. These people can't find jobs or lost their jobs because of their health. These statistics helped me to further understand homelessness because I now know that there are a lot more factors that contribute to homelessness than I knew before.

Text #1: "Akron's Public schools Will Soon Stock Opioid Antidote"

The claim being made is that Akron's public schools will soon stock opioid anecdotes due to the number of overdoses in this school. The Akron school district's resource officers with the medication , known by the brand name Narcan. This should not have been a topic to be discussed at a meeting. The city of Akron has 200,000 people . Of those 200,000 people, 4000 of those people died in 2017 from a drug overdose. Some of those were high schoolers. "They too are worried that having it on hand might be creating an even bigger problem by sending the message to kids ,Don't worry, take drugs. We've got Narcan to save you", stated Debbie Walsh. The lone dissenting vote came from her as well. In nearby Butler county,Ohio, Sheriff Richard K Jones said his deputies will never carry Narcan. He told The Post last week it was not his department's responsibility to administer the treatment. He stated ," I'm not the one that decides if people live or die. They decide that when they stick that needle in their arm," These are just 2 of the instances where people disagree with the choice to stock Narcan in this school system.

The purpose of this article is to inform people about Patrolman Chris Green . had just finished searching the car of two suspected drug dealers and was back at the police station when another officer spotted some white powder on his shirt. Without thinking, he brushed it off with his bare hand- and passed out about an hour later, Chief John Lane said .It took four doses of Narcan to revive him. had worn the required gloves and mask to do the search, Lan said. But the drug can get into the body just through contact with the skin" and he did this without thinking," Lane said. "I'm not sure he even realized this was drugs."Green came into contact with the Fentanyl- a powerful synthetic opioid five times as strong as heroin. The articles uses pathos to tell the tragic story of Green. They use pathos by having co-workers help to tell the story of what happened and how he felt.

This article kind of surprised me, but not really . I think it is a good idea, but at the same time isn't a good idea. It is a good idea because it might prompt people to stop using because they know that if they overdose again, then they will die because EMS is not giving the Narcan to revive them. It is a bad idea because EMS would not give them Narcan could cause lawsuits. I don't know for sure if people could sue, but it is a possibility.
