What role do twins play in the study of human growth?

Ah, the classic Nature vs. Nurture. Which has a greater effect on human development, environment or genetics? Because twins share DNA, they are ideal for studying this very subject. If identical twins are placed in different environments but have similar traits, we can likely attribute that to genetics, especially when compared and contrasted with twins raised in the exact same environment. Here is a (slightly silly) mock-example.
