My older brother recommended this book to me because I told him I like books about criminals and ones that contain a lot of action. I found "In Cold Blood" very interesting so I decided to go with another type of crime book to see if I like it as well. The book is written by the criminal himself which I'm excited about because the perspective will reflect his own thoughts throughout the book.

"I was always aware that I was Frank Abagnale, Jr., that I was a check swindler and a faker, and if and when I were caught I wasn't going to win any Oscars. I was going to jail." (5).

I find this quote intriguing because in this passage Abagnale proves to the reader that he knows exactly what he's doing and there is no contribution of a mental illness. He even recognizes that he will, in fact, go to jail. Knowing this, I question why he continues this lifestyle of fraud, do the benefits outweigh the consequences? This quote stood out to me because it blatantly establishes who his character is which sets up the rest of the book without confusion.
