September, 1768
Kids threw snowballs at British soldiers while men held clubs and shouted. In the midst of the chaos the word "Fire!" rung in the air as well as gunshots. Five colonists dead, yet the soldiers where found not-guilty. Paul Revere later made an engraving of what we call today "The Boston Massacre". People were infuriated with the British for the deaths of the innocent colonists.

The British fought the French for new land, and ownership of the Ohio River Valley. France surrendered the war in 1763. The British did gain a great amount of land, but the expenses of the war had increased by 13 million dollars! In 1764 British regulations focused on the good of the empire, but as the colonies grew older the colonists became more independent. The British only decided to be more strict, and the relationship between the countries got a lot worse.

The Sons Of Liberty grouped together to throw British tea overboard the East India Company ships, in protest of the British tea policies and prices. Not only did they throw tea of of the ships, they also dressed up as Natives. To make sure the tea couldn't be prospered, they cut the carts open with axes so water could seep in. When the colonists noticed what was happening, they cheered with joy. There was so much tea, you could see it on top of the water. Some colonists rowed small boats to overlapping piles tea, and pushed the them into the Boston Harbor.

4. The Stamp Act 1765

The stamp act forced colonists to pay for stamps for any piece of printed material they owned. Money made from the taxes were used to fund British troops and colonial administration, specifically the French and Indian War. The colonists were so fed up with the law and parliament, they protested because they did not get a say in any of it. The Stamp Act provoked hostility and anger, and soon the colonists organized a Stamp Act Congress. The Congress wanted to fight back to parliament, so they wrote the Declaration of Rights. At first the king refused it, but later in 1766, parliament repealed the Act.

Colonists sent the king this petition to try to prevent the war between the two countries. The letter was signed and written by the Second Continental Congress. The last thing the colonists wanted to do was go to war and die because of disagreements with the king. It explained that the colonists were ready to fight if all of the laws and disagreements wouldn't be resolved. The king fully ignored the petition, which began the start of the Revolutionary war.
