Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs that may be caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi. The infection causes the lungs' air sacs (alveoli) to become inflamed and fill up with fluid or pus. That can make it hard for the oxygen you breathe in to get into your bloodstream.

What causes respiratory pneumonia
Most pneumonia occurs when a breakdown in your body's natural defenses allows germs to invade and multiply within your lungs. To destroy the attacking organisms, white blood cells rapidly accumulate. Along with bacteria and fungi, they fill the air sacs within your lungs (alveoli).

Causes of pneumonia
The most common cause of pneumonia in adults is bacterial infection, and pneumococcus is the most common among bacteria. Some types of pneumonia occur as a side effect of upper respiratory infections such as colds. Other causes of pneumonia in healthy adults include bacteria such as hemophilus and mycoplasma. A bacterium called Legionella causes Legionella disease, which can spread through the air conditioner.

Symptoms of pneumonia

a cough – which may be dry, or produce thick yellow, green, brown or blood-stained mucus (phlegm)

difficulty breathing – your breathing may be rapid and shallow, and you may feel breathless, even when resting.

rapid heartbeat.

high temperature.

feeling generally unwell.

sweating and shivering.

Asthma is a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus.

It affects people of all ages and often starts in childhood, although it can also develop for the first time in adults.

It is caused by swelling (inflammation) of the breathing tubes that carry air in and out of the lungs. This makes the tubes highly sensitive, so they temporarily narrow.

Causes and Triggers
Researchers don’t know why some people have asthma while others don’t. But certain factors present a higher risk:

allergies

smoke, pollution and cold air

exercise

infections like colds or flu

Symptoms

a wheezing sound when breathing

shortness of breath

chest tightness or pain

coughing

Trouble sleeping caused by shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing

Treatment
It can't be cured, but there are simple treatments that can help keep the symptoms under control so it does not have a big impact on your life. Patients can take asthma medicines in several different ways. They may breathe in the medicines using a nebulizer, tablets(Bronchodilators, Anti-inflammatory medicines) or another type of asthma inhaler.
