         <description><![CDATA[<div>I don't think any of the schools I work with or have worked in ever engaged in a process like this. Schools with toxic culture could really benefit from this storytelling process. Schools with strong culture will benefit too--this is definitely something I want to do as a school leader during in service week. I also want to encourage my teachers to take their time getting to the curriculum and spend the first few weeks of school connecting with their students</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think doing a whole day of getting to know each other.&nbsp; Not just something quick like like name and how many years I have been at the school but something more meaningful like this where we truly share our stories and be able to make connections with each other. &nbsp;<br><br>After that, our leaders can incorporate this throughout the school year at the beginning of grade level meetings.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>when I taught social science, I would start my units with getting to know our identities.  I am a huge fan of Facing History.  I would tell my students that it is important not only for our own individual selves to know who we are but for our group to know each other's stories.  I wanted out our classroom to make those connections with each other and throughout our social sciences units we would reflect back on our identities to make connections with historical figures.  I think I have always been a fan for students to have this opportunity to share pieces of themselves.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Another way to do this might be either from making everyone share a literal recipe and describe why it is important to their family (then make a cookbook later of everyone's compilation). ORRRRR you could do it more scripted, as in what were your families values + how do those come out within you now. How do you react to conflict, or receive feedback best, but I love the idea of adding the food element because food is a binder of people. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My admin and I have been trying to figure out what we can do to bring our ILT closer together during our retreat this summer. We've been trying to think about organizations that can come in to support us, books we can read, and more. After this experience, I think sharing stories is exactly what we need to do. Our relational trust between staff and admin is not very strong, and I think this would begin to build that trust both ways. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I've never worked with or for a principal who took the time to share their story with the staff.&nbsp;<br><br>I've established a lot of trust with the teachers I support by being so open about my struggles as an early teacher. It is tragic that people are conditioned to feel shame about their failures and mistakes. Mistakes are such powerful learning opportunities, especially for teachers. Teaching takes so much resilience.&nbsp; You can't teach without learning to recover from failure.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
