The topic was quite tricky, we would have preferred an easier topic - more freedom to get creative.

The scenes are a bit repetitive, maybe the teacher could take the students out of school (in the areas around the school) thus creating more variety. Maybe this could be linked to each year group's theme.

Maybe have an area/store room with props. 

Instead of creating films for just the D'Oscars, we could film for fun and make sure we understand the basics first. This will allow us to explore without feeling pressured to create a great film.

6N does enjoy the ceremony, but wish to make a few adjustments.

We could change the location of the ceremony.

Maybe there could be an intermission break, instead of a 3 hour ceremony.

Many of us felt a little bored during the ceremony, maybe there could be more student involvement or more entertainers? 

If there were more categories then more students might have a chance to win? These categories could include the best story (plot), teamwork, college values, etc. 

Maybe only allow for a group to only win one category.

D'Oscars is not just only about the films, it's also about collaboration and team work. Could there be an award for them?

Perhaps each year group could shorten one of their units and only focus on movie making for half a term. It would be great to be able to spend more time teaching and practising skills. A lot of my class felt like they were shown how to use iMovie, for example, but then didn't have enough opportunity to experiment with it. Perhaps making complete experimental movies first would be good. There's a lot of pressure on the making of their "final films", which is the groups' first film that they make together. Not much opportunity to make mistakes and learn. As a teacher you find yourself thinking and acting in a way that you would never consider acceptable when teaching anything else- like focussing support on "the best group" so you've got at least one movie, as the pressure towards deadline builds . I think it's a fantastic project and opportunity for the children, and I think the development of the curriculum and teaching this year has been great, but I feel that there is more that could be done, in particular to develop excellence in movie-making, and to ensure that it is a robust learning experience for all students. More equipment, so group sizes could be smaller, and staff training would be helpful. The class were all very excited about the ceremony when they arrived, and they enjoyed getting dressed up and coming along with their parents. - Having a D'Oscars/film making unit as part of Computer Studies works well as it is timetabled and can be developed and planned carefully so this should continue.
- Carrying out the film making in T1 was preferred.
- Year groups given more freedom of choices of genre, it's very 'samey' each year.

Ensure it's cooler in the upper gym and ensure students take water bottles (although then if they drink too much they'll be back and forth to the bathroom.
Suggest cutting the film festival element of D'OSCARS. It adds to a section and does not create much interest.
