April 30, The day I built my PC.

"Duy, we are gonna go to Micro Center," my father declares to me on this fateful day.

"Today is the day I buy parts for this PC," I announce to myself in my head, "Months have passed waiting for this exact moment." At that instant, we head out on the road to Micro Center, the PC part metropolis. Rows upon rows of components and accessories line the humongous warehouse-like store. The scent of freshly produced electronics wafts through the maze-like structures.

“Go get in line for the worker”

“Ok,” I respond while heading towards the semi-long line. Very few minutes pass by, but it felt like an eternity. Time passes and we are finally up next for help.

“What can I get for you today?” a worker asks.

I hand him a list with everything I need, “Just these.” My father and I follow him as he carefully picks out everything we need. In a matter of minutes he had picked everything out, we then head out towards the checkout lines.

“Alright, you’re all set,” a cashier says. We then make our way home.

I quickly start getting ready to put everything together. Putting everything where they need to be; CPU into the socket on the motherboard, SSD into a port, RAM into slots 2 and 4, cooler onto the CPU, the whole motherboard into the case, and the finishing piece. The GPU slots into the case and the motherboard. The PC is finally complete.

Collectively we spent hundreds of hours trying to perfect ourselves for this fateful day. Falls turned into progress, progress turned into victories, and these victories brought all of us to where we were on May 5, 2022.
It first started off on the first day of 4th quarter sports for the AUHSD middle schools. It was a very extensive day for us, introduction to what track and field were, getting to know who was there, and figuring out how it all worked. Tired is what most of us would say it was like, but come the next day we showed up.
Maybe something lit a fire in us or we were made to continue. But, we found what made us want to continue. For me, it was the adrenaline of running. Others, it may have been the people or that’s where they believed they belonged. But that lead us to practice and the many hours we dedicated.
3 Competitions then followed the 1 month period of practice. We took losses, but we took wins that took us to the final meet. As we waited for our events to start, anxiety filled all of us up. More than ever, many emotions came out. We finished our events, we started some, and we waited for the results. Sure we may have no taken the win, but we took pride in what we did.

3 years after COVID-19 kept us at home during 6th grade, 1.5 years after we came back to school in person. Time flew after quarantine, but I didn’t even think about how close high school was when COVID first hit. But, it had to eventually come. High school was something I saw my own sibling go through, and I really didn’t think I would even last through middle school.

More than ever before, I felt unready to go to a new school and into a new part of my life. Everything changed when I first entered high school, so I really had to adapt really quickly. These changes really affect me in school and my personal life, but it was nice to get away from middle school. I felt free.

December 28, Realizing What I Want

Am I happy? These words have constantly invaded my mind each and every day in 2022. Even some of my friends ask me if I’m happy. I never know what to say, even though it's very simple to answer. Up until the end of this year, I never knew the answer to this question. More than ever I feel that being happy is something that is too important to look over and neglect.
December 28, the day I figured out my answer. That day was my birthday. Sitting at my computer late at night. Sitting there I just think and think. Going through my whole mind, figuring out why. Nothing else matters at that moment, friends, family, school, or hobbies. It’s just myself.
“Am I happy?” I ask myself. “No.” At that moment, I knew what I wanted. Not some material or digital good, but to find what I need to be happy.

September 14, Seeing My Sister Go to University

I saw my sister, my only other sibling, go to university. Years have passed since I witnessed my sister start thinking about furthering her education. And months ago, I have seen her carry it out. It all began when she graduated from high school, from that point she knew that time was ticking down until she would have to leave. Dorms, financing, majors, and most importantly her friends were things she took into consideration and had trouble in.
As her family, I witnessed everything and helped her. I tried to make the most out of the time I had left with her until she was gone.
But as time went on, the date came. September 14, 2022, during the darkness of the morning, it was time for my parents to take my sister all the way up to Northern California. My whole family was up to say goodbye, and tears came from all of us. We knew that my sister, my grandma’s granddaughter, and my parent’s oldest child is growing up. As they head into the car we say our goodbyes.
