The article “At 50, Levittown Contends With Its Legacy of Bias” by Bruce Lambert explains how Levittown has always been “symbolic of segregation in America” and has always been overwhelmingly white. Just like Levittown, over half of the residents in Santa Clarita are white. Though the racial composition of the two communities may be similar, Santa Clarita is slightly different in that there is no segregation. While Santa Clarita is a largely white community, it does not restrict families from certain backgrounds from settling, and there are certainly minority families present. As seen in the photo, the minorities and those of other races are present and welcomed. Similarly, this pattern of uniformity persists and can be seen in Santa Clarita. As seen in the photo, in Santa Clarita, the streets are arranged in an identical style, and the houses on each street show little to no difference with each other. This trend of wanting to be assimilated into a community and creating a sense of uniformity can be seen in both Santa Clarita and Levittown.

The Levittown article provided mentioned how the streets of the neighborhood in Levittown were curved, which not only created better visuals but also helped to slow traffic. In addition, the trees planted in front of the houses not only had an aesthetic effect but also enhanced the value of property. As seen in the photos, Santa Clarita shares many of these features, including the curved streets and lush vegetation, which serve both decorate and functional purposes. Santa Clarita is similar to Levittown in that both show dedication and commitment to enhancing the visual quality and value of their communities.

This trend of having commercial goods is still present and can be seen in Santa Clarita. As shown in the photos, families in Santa Clarita have commercial goods, such as automobiles, just as the residents of Levittown did. In addition, the Levittown article states how Levittown provided recreation for its residents, such as sports or shopping centers. Similarly, Santa Clarita offers several recreational activities. The photo taken shows the theme park in Santa Clarita, confirming that Santa Clarita and Levittown share this common dedication to providing commercial goods and recreation for the community.

Just as Levittown is described as a place where friendship and kindness exist between families, Santa Clarita is a community where there are close relationship between residents. In addition, the living standards are moderately high for both. Levittown was described as having a phenomenally low crime rate, as well as several accommodations and services for its residents, including doctors offices and churches. Similarly, Santa Clarita is a safe community that provides a variety of accommodations for its residents. Though both communities have moderately high living standards, these standards are slightly higher for Santa Clarita. The Levittown article mentioned how a house in Levittown could cost less than $10,000, which would not nearly be enough to afford a house in Santa Clarita.

In Levittown, residents began adopting the style of the modern ranch house. Houses of this style utilized stone pathways and a roof over the entrance or porch of the home. As seen in the photo below, many of these stylistic elements can be seen in the homes of Santa Clarita. Roofs extend over the porches of the many houses, and stone pathways lead to the front door. At the same time, however, the houses of Santa Clarita have many features that the homes of Levittown did not have. For example, many residents of Levittown did not implement garages, while the garage is a substantial part of the homes here in Santa Clarita.
