This book kind of reminds me of when breath becomes air because it’s based at a hospital, not the same tone of story but the same setting, and the main characters both have something going on.

So far the song drowning by boogie wit da hoodie matches the tone of the story because the main character is drowning while trying to save a dog in the river that he fortuitously found.

Henry saved a dog, black and scuffed up, from drowning and he wanted to get it some food. He knew his dad wouldn’t like the dog so he knew he couldn’t keep it, he planned to keep the dog outside as he looked for some food for it: the dog had other plans and let itself in and started sniffing around. Before even seeing the dog Henry’s dad announced it smelt like wet dog and demanded answers then the dog showed itself. His father ended up kicking the dog.

A surprising plot twist that could happen would be Franklin waking up, he doesn’t seem like he’s going to with everything going on. If that happened a lot would change like they’d stop saying that troubles trying to find them, and their parents would probably be more accepting of the dog Henry saved. Their hate for the dog is nebulous, but one things for sure is they don’t want it in their house.
