Religion was an every day necessity for the Puritans. Previously the Puritans were living in England, but the restriction of practicing what they wanted is the reason why they moved from England to Salem. The Puritans deemed England as a place unsuitable for their daily lives if they're just going to be punished for doing nothing but practice a main part of their daily lives. This is why the Puritans are considered nonconformists. The Puritans saw Religion as a huge part of life and they weren't going to let any tyranny get in their way of what they did.
