By the 1930s when Andrew Jackson was elected, Jackson fought to pass a law "The Indian Removal Act". This act would force all Native Americans out home by home forced out of America. Although many different groups such as missionaries and southerners might have been against it, they still were forced out as soon as the act passed.

The story was about how the whites wanted the Americans land, therefore they elected Andrew Jackson which put his all into freeing up that land for the whites. He did this by signing the The Indian Removal Act which was passed. So Andrew Jackson forced treaties to remove the Native Americans and the Native Americans tried to fight them in court but unfortunately did not work. After they were removed, the Trail of Tears began where Americans had to basically hike around to find where to live. As a result of this, lots of the Americans died.

What really sealed the deal to their removal was when President Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act which encouraged the government to take Native American Land and use it to their advantage. America wanted to expand and the biggest obstacle standing in front of westward expansion was the Native Americans. Being not as technologically advanced the Native American tribes realized they could not defeat the Americans.

In 1830, Andrew Jackson began to enforce the Indian Removal Act to remove the Indians from their land by force to free up land for the white settlers. Andrew Jackson did this by forcing the groups of Indians out at gunpoint to reservations in Oklahoma. The Indians tried to fight this at the Supreme Court in Worchester Vs. Ga in 1832, but the Indians did not win and Andrew Jackson continued to force Indians out through multiple treaties, such as the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek. This resulted in the Indians being put on the Trail of Tears, which was a trail that lasted for thousands of miles to Oklahoma. 1/4 of Indians died on the trail from disease, starvation, and being attacked or treated unfairly by white people.

When Andrew Jackson was elected he passed the Indian removal act which barely got passed as many disagreed with it, but in the end was passed. This gave Andrew Jackson the power to make "treaties" with the native americans to leave their land and go to the federal land in Oklahoma. In reality he was forcing them out at gunpoint. The Native Americans did go to court but lost and by 1838 there was almost no Native Americans in the south.

When Jackson said this quote he was expressing to the Native Americans that he is not against them and that he has no intention to decieve them but due to the circumstances it is not possible for the Native American tribes and the white citizens to survive and thrive with everyone in one setting. This caused Jackson to remove the Native American tribes.

2. When Jackson referred to the Native Americans as his "friends" it caused suspicion of his sincerity because it seemed as if he was being sarcastic to get Native Americans to not be upset about this move. He wanted the Native Americans to understand that this was a strategic move and not personal toward them or their cultural backgrounds. Which might not have been all the way true anyway.

Even though he did help fight in a war and helped his fellow citizens out, it doesn't hide the fact that he made thousands of Native Americans to leave their land, which in fact is THEIR LAND and how can you just kick someone out of their land if its not even yours. In my opinion he was already a terrible president for even doing that and was very unnecessary.

Yes, the Indian Removal Act did happen because of Andrew because during that time Jackson was president and he was the one who had decided on the law and passed it to congress, and since congress passed the law the act happened. In the text it states "In 1830, Congress passed the Indian Removal Act" (pg.1 paragraph 3). This shows that in order for congress to get a law it has to be sent from the president.

I say this because in the text it says, "The United states Ary rounded up the Cherokee who were living in Tennessee,Georgia,North Carolina, and Alabama" (pg1). Therefore Andrew Jackson passed that act because he supported it so the act happened because of him.

He was trying to convince these people that what he was going to do to them was going to benefit them long term. They had serious concerns about his sincerity because he was calling them friends but then taking thousands of innocent people and ripping them from their homes. Not only that but many of the Native Americans were raped, abused, and killed in the process of "peacefully" removing them. If he was so sincere about them being friends the Native Americans wouldn't have suffered so much for the gain of Andrew Jackson.

Americans did not even try to compromise with the Native Americans that were there first. Americans just went straight to forcefully taking the Native Americans from their homes. Not only that but, "...soldiers often raped, robbed, and murdered the Cherokee (The Cherokee Trail of Tears). Andrew Jackson demanded peace from the Native Americans but when it came down to it they treated the Native American with absolutely no respect or humanity. That is why I believe it was not justified because of the inhumane way Andrew Jackson and his troops treated the Native Americans.

Some evidence to support this is, “I saw the helpless Cherokees arrested and dragged from their homes and driven at bayonet point into stockades.

I believe the Indian Removal was not justified. The Indians had brought great potentiaal and hardworkers to America. Because of this, they seemed like a threat to Americans. However this does not mean they deserved to be just thrown out of America. As shown in the video, "The Indian Removal Act", it was stated that the indians gave the Whites a run for their money because of their hardwork and dedication to thier jobs. As they grew in numbers many northerners grew in fear of them taking their jobs and wanted them out. Although this may be true, this is not justifiable and holds no valid reason for removing the Indians from America. Especially as harshly as they did.

Someone who believed the US shouldn't be run by money and only those with education.

I believe that Indian Removal Act did happened because of President Jackson because he was the president of that time. He signed the bill which led to the Indian Removal Act. "In 1830, Congress passed the Indian Removal Act. The Act passed 28 to 19 in the Senate and 102 to 97 in the House." - paragraph 3. Andrew Jackson was the president during 1830, he signed the bill and Indian removal occurred.

1) When Andrew Jackson said “Circumstances . . . render it impossible that you can flourish in the midst of a civilized community.” , he meant that its beyond the human laws to let them stay in their homeland as they don't belong where they are.

2) When Jackson referred to the Cherokees as “my friends,” people had serious concerns about his sincerity because on one hand, he was removing and forcing Native American to move from their homeland. And on the other hand, he was calling them his friends as he was truly worry about the situation. It must've hard for other to determine if he was truly concerned about Indians moving or not.

Based on all the previous material, I think the United States/Jackson was not justified in removing the Native Americans because there is no strong reason. Just because Whites wanted more land, a president can't just simply remove a whole civilized community to fulfil the request of other residents. People were dislocated from their homes without knowing where they are headed, how the conditions and circumstances would be. Some even didn't had the chance to gather their families. The act of Indian Removal was not justified.
