How were the Indians in the Northwest Territory supposed to be treated?<br><br>Based on the Northwest Territory, the Native Americans are now being treated with respect, unlike the past when they got their land taken and invaded by the colonists. The Northwest Territory puts the Native Americans under the idea of the Declaration of Independence where every men are created equal, and deserves Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. With Northwest Territory, the border of their lands should be respected and should not be taken without their consent.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

How was the issue of slavery dealt with?<br><br></div><div>In this territory the issue is slavery and forced servitude were not allowed, except if someone was being punished for crime. If a person escaped from another state where they were legally claimed as a worker or servant, they could be taken back. So, they tried to limit slavery, but there were exceptions for escaped individual.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

What is the first state created using the rules of the Northwest Ordinance?</div><div>Ohio is the first state created using the rules of the Northwest Ordinance, in 1803.&nbsp;</div><div><br>4. How many other states are formed?</div><div>5 other states are formed with this new Northwest Ordinance.&nbsp;</div><div><br>5. Who inhabited the lands before they were divided up by the United States?</div><div>Only Native Americans lived in these lands before the United States.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
