The season outside is autumn. One of the boys besides Grant is the narrator.  John Michael, Logan, Henry, Shepard, and Grant were present during this time. Two of the boys dropped to their knees crying and one was unable to move. None of the boys tried to go near Grant's body because they were stunned and in shock. First, they felt sorrow for Grant, but then they felt fear for themselves. They felt fear because they did not want to get convicted for his murder. We need to know why wasn't Grant with the rest of the boys when he was shot. Since he wasn't with them, where was he at? What was he doing? We also need to know who was the last one to be holding the Remington?
