This is my fact sheet about NYT and NBC. Their similarities, differences, and using an article to compare. I also compare both sources with the V.I.A. analysis and how I believed these two fell and if they passed. While also comparing their top news drivers and keywords.

This article is one of my examples for the claims of comparing the two sources.

This article is where I point out certain statements from NYT and how I believed this story has bias in it and that it turned me away from allowing NYT to pass the V.I.A. analysis. Example in the article were "The efforts to humanize Mr. Trump" or "[Trump] frequently made exaggerated claims about immigration."

NBC News Example #1

This article is one of the example for my claims of comparing the two sources. This NBC article simply laid out the facts. While they didn't go into a far discussion of it. It didn't seem like they held any biases in this article which is why it led me to believe they passed the V.I.A analysis

Conclusion

I wrote a conclusion on my fact sheet but I'd like to reiterate some points. NYT is a trusted source but if you are looking for a less biased source of news, I recommend NBC. I now have changed my views on NYT since this project. While I will still indulge in NYT from time to time, I don't find that it passes the V.I.A analysis for me so therefore, I prefer NBC News more.

New York Times Example #2

This article is about special councilman Jack Smith charging Trump with plotting to overturn the 2020 election. This article wasn't as biased as some of the other I read. But something that stuck out to me since I had read it the last time. NYT actually made a mistake in their article and had to restate the claims. The correction reads "A correction was made on

Oct. 8, 2024:

An earlier version of this story misstated an element of the relationship between Eric Herschmann, a White House lawyer during the Trump administration, and Jared Kushner, former President Donald J. Trump’s son-in-law. Mr. Herschmann had known Mr. Kushner since Mr. Kushner was a child. The two were not childhood friends."

Compared to the NBC article where these claims were never stated and they must of fact checked better, I still don't think NYT passes the V.I.A. analysis for this reason.

NBC News Example #2

This was another article on the same topic of Jack Smith's charges. I found that this article was better at stating the facts and did not have a mistake in their writing. I think that both articles did well at staying less biased but NBC News did put claims from Trump like "They disobeyed their own rule in favor of complete and total election interference," he wrote in one post. "I did nothing wrong, they did! The case is a scam, just like all of the others." compared to NYT who put these quotes "gonna hate your guts". I think NBC did better at laying out Trumps opinion and side to this story compared to NYT.
