I definitely will approach Lexia differently next year. The idea of having a class growth chart and daily shout-outs as motivation would have certainly enhanced my student's experience with the program. It is looked at as a chore and not a resource and I think buy in needs to be established on Day 1.
I also found the Teacher Leadership presentation insightful. I think we all have our respective areas of expertise and need to realize that we can learn from one another. Inviting others in your room and sharing what you do is a way for us to learn to appreciate the wealth of knowledge from people in this building without feeling judged our inadequate. We need to change our own perception of what a leader is and isn't. We need to help each other grow and only then can we instill that in our kids.
Excellent work to all the groups!

The character parade was a hit and must be an annual activity! We also liked the idea of One Book for each grade level versus school wide. Thanks to Lisa, we also tried the musical chairs read a book activity which the kids really enjoyed!

I love the idea of the grade-level novel. I have used novels often in my class to establish a "common base" that my students could use as the year progressed when they were then reading their own novels, so I'm all for that. I also would love to explore book clubs; I've never had much success with them, but I would love to try again and would welcome some suggestions.

I loved the links provided on the slide from the Math interventionists. The Which One Doesn't Belong site provides so many options for puzzles. Often the students fail to stretch their thinking past the obvious. These kind of puzzles would really allow them to look for options.
