I think the main concerns for young people in mayo’s mental health is and I know this a big one for me which is exam stress.many can get stressed about school and exams coming up including me.I believe this can knock a lot of people down because they might not have the motivation to study for tests which is very important.Even though I know it can be hard it’s important to do well in school.

In my opinion the main concern for young people in relation to mental health is exam and school stress. Especially during exam time students feel especially anxious and there is not really any resources.

I think that the biggest issue in mayo in relation to mental health is lack of education on coping skills. I think that it would be highly beneficial for someone like a clinical psychologist to come into every school for exam year students and teach them about panic attacks, coping mechanisms and also about where and how they can get help if the need it

In my opinion the main concern for young people in relation of mental health is the lack of mental health facilities. There is little to none places for young people to seek help for there mental health service. I have to travel up to 20 minutes to go to the closest one and my parents might not be able to drive me there and if your able to get access to it the facilities are awful, places like CAMHS are not up to date and waiting lists are so long it takes ages for people to get booked in. Facilities need to be updated and more places should be around mayo especially in more rural areas!!!!!!!

I think one big issue is the lack of facilities available to students, especially in rural areas. You either have to pay extortionate amounts of money to receive proper counselling or go on a waiting list through CAMHS or HSE for years! Lists are so long that, by the time someone who has mild symptoms and was put on the bottom of the waiting list a couple of years ago is finally chosen, their mental health might have deteriorated way more!

I don't think there is enough support for LGBTQ students either. If a person wishes to Transition, they are obliged to go through counselling sessions prior, but the waiting lists are so long and all facilities are up in Dublin so a lot of the time it simply isn't possible for someone to do it.

I'm pretty certain that one of the biggest concerns for young people is the overwhelming stress of preparing for exams and organising yourself to reach your study goals. A lot of people find it very hard to start studying and stick to a certain time table, and in turn missing these requirements/study sessions are guaranteed to cause more stress and anxiety around exams, often more than the stress you had before making your time table. Meaning, you have created your own stress thinking it would solve your problem, but often you might feel burnt out, or tired or something comes up and you're unable to meet your target for the day.
