Hotels may have a pool or tennis court, whereas resorts many have 10 pools or 10 tennis courts. Hotels have a wide range of pricing. Hotels have a wide range of clientele (family, business, luxury) whereas resorts are generally all the same vibe (relaxing and outdoors). There are more activities/ hang out spots in resorts whereas hotels are more just a place to sleep. Sometimes guest choose to stay somewhere purely because of the resort. Everything you need (pool, activities, restaurant) is at the resort therefore you don't even have to leave. Resorts are more family friendly and accomodate for kids and kid specific activities. Resorts are not inner city. Generally located in nature or close to a beach. Hotels are more used as a quick stop over or just a place to sleep whereas you would generally spend more time at a resort.
