For example, instead of writing summaries for articles that was read; try going outside the standard curriculum by being creative in expressing in a different ways such as drawing, brochures, talking amongst groups etc.
4. In the story it mentions "As educators, we have the responsibility to educate and inspire the whole child--- mind, heart, and soul".   • We all understand that schools can be a stressful and challenging place at times, but that doesn't explain why joy and happiness are often lacking in schools. What are some things that teachers can do to help a school's culture become more joyful?
    1. Give students choices and let students take the initiative and their own creativity in accomplishing their projects and let students get inspired to take the extra step to research and present their knowledge in a creative way.
    2. Grades can be stressful and teachers should also give students a detailed rubic to show students a set expectation and milestones they need to get a good grade.

    We all want to grow in a fun environment, we want to be respected, be accepted, be heard and be valued. Students who experience this thrive in an enriching environment. Being able to be challenged by teachers makes learning fun and engaging. It builds peer interactions and a fundamental sense of self.

    A class that's tough, fair, rigorous, and fun helps create a good balance for students. It balances everything a student needs to be engaged and focused throughout a school year and educational career.     1. Do not belittle a child because they can build resentment which will lead them to lose focus on what you as a teacher are trying to teach them. However, when you stick with a student's goals and help them push through even when they doubt their own intelligence, they grow a deeper confidence within themselves and respect for you as a teacher..even creating precious memories of the class. It gives them confidence in being able to accomplish their educational goals.

Which three "Joys" stand out most to you? 
     
    The three joys that stood out the most to me were Joy 1: Find the Pleasure in learning. I connected with and liked this joy because this kind of learnings motivation comes from within, and no one can take that away. Also, I really like Joy 3: Let Students Create Things, having control of our work to create stuff with our hands and our minds to make something original gives us tremendous sense of agency. Lastly, I liked Joy 4: Show Off Student Work, our classroom spaces should be devoted to wonderful original student work to create a joyful environment.

    - Abundance of support for maximum success, opportunities to improve their grades such as going to tutoring for extra credit... also food is a great incentive, more counselors, more activities
    -Teaches resilience by learning from failure
    -Creates a sense of accomplishment, a confidence in what they are studying
    -Rising to a challenge or learning from a challenge 
    -Encourages rapport and camaraderie because the class is a shared experience they overcame together

Some things that teachers can do to help a school's culture more joyful, is giving the ownership to students and making their interests a part of the lessons and interactive. Overall making teaching joyful (such as Kahoot, performing plays, team building exercises, letting them choose their own books to read, attention getters, and friendly competitive games).
    4. A classroom that is tough, but fair, and rigorous, but fun help students in school, by teaching them discipline. It helps them to look forward to going to school, because they know what to expect. This will also give them a sense of independence and responsibility.     - We can create a teaching environment joyful by being able to include students in different type of activities and creative ideas so the students will find joy in learning and having an education. To be able to learn more about the students. 
    Some of the joys that stood out to me were Joy 2, Joy 3, and Joy 11. These stood out to me because it’s important to be able to let the students have a safe and fun environment and learn while doing that. 

    Question 3:
    - The “warm demander” is an important characteristic to cultivate in teachers because if students feel you care about them they are willing to cooperate. They will be more willing to do the work and show up to class because they will feel comfortable. It important for them to feel comfortable, so that they are willing to ask questions, instead of just sitting back confused. I thrived in classes with these kinds of teachers and that was because I felt comfortable reaching out to my teachers and asking questions because I knew my teachers wanted what was best for me and were willing to help. 
    - It’s difficult to cultivate because at the same time students may feel that they can take advantage of a teacher who cares. If they know a teacher cares they can begin to take advantage of the teacher because they feel that they can get away with whatever they do. This is why it’s important to set boundaries letting students know you care for them, but also keep your expectations high for them.
