People cant speak and act freely because the government would then punish them. People are imprisoned for speaking their minds and wanting to do their own things. In a situation like that the way id fight is by photographing everything the government does and post it on social media to spread the world.

Based on the video even when he was free he continued to feel responsible for the many other prisoners who were still getting tortured.
