My childhood years were wonderful. At school, I was a nice but jealous child who cried whenever I didn't succeed, became upset when I didn't get what I wanted, and even broke down when someone was better than me at something. I was a naive, competitive child who believed that if I worked hard enough, I would succeed. I sometimes wished I were someone else because I was envious of them. My life became all about studying as a result, made it into the with honors list and even joined the school band since the top two students in my class did as well.

I felt like I hit rock bottom at high school, however, the situation opened my eyes to the reality of life. Effort is important but not all efforts are rewarded with success. I began focusing more on my efforts rather than the outcome. I stopped focusing all of my energy on studying and started interacting with people more. I changed my way of thinking and it healed me.
