Tips for young kids, middle and high school students.

Most educators don’t spend their days thinking about cybersecurity. Between classroom management, learning objectives, and so much more, it usually doesn’t rise to top priority. But as technology evolves and continues to become more integrated into every aspect of our lives— including mental health and biometrics—and cybercrime increases and sometimes targets schools, cybersecurity is something we need to be mindful about and help students understand. 

In this issue of the magazine, we highlight the importance of educating people about cybersecurity, while proposing concrete solutions that can be adapted to every environment.

Indeed, digital tools offer many possibilities for developing skills such as communication and collaboration. They can also make learning situations more interactive and authentic, diversify forms of feedback, create multidisciplinary contexts, and so on. They allow for differentiated learning paths, simplifying the inclusion of students with special needs or difficulties.

It means pretty much the same thing as regular playing. It can be a game, or not. It could be anything that we get drawn into, as opposed to being pushed into. It is fun, maybe challenging, organic, non-threatening, and fluid. It can look different on different days, some days in groups, sometimes individually. There is some structure, possibly a common goal, but with more than one way to reach it. Or it might involve creativity, like drawing or building something.

Incorporating the SDGs into classroom practice can be done very naturally. The 17 goals are well aligned to the cross-curricular competencies and there are so many ways of addressing sustainability in all subject areas.
