Además, en Colombia cada año son
maltratadas 35.000 mujeres por sus parejas; en otras palabras, 95 mujeres son ultrajadas cada día. ¿Qué decir de los niños(as)? Cuatrocientos setenta y nueve niños(as) son víctimas de las minas antipersona en los últimos 10 años. En lo que va corrido del año, 520 niños(as) fueron asesinados
violentamente por causa de la guerra, la intolerancia o la violencia sexual.
Según la Defensoría del Pueblo, entre el 2007 y el 2011 se presentaron 3879 reportes de niños(as) menores de 14 años desaparecidos. Por su parte,
la Fundación País Libre reporta que 2620 niños(as) fueron secuestrados en los últimos 10 años en Colombia. La Fiscalía General calcula que cerca de 200.000 niños(as) son violados cada año (Meza,2012)
