One thing that I really like about marketing is that the field is very flexible. There are a lot of diverse options for this career field. You could honestly go into anything. For example: Management, social media, event planning, Sales, Public relations, and so much more.

Flexability

The pay range for marketing is $66K - $122K annually. A BA degree in marketing is the minimal education requirement. Although, while it might not be required, a masters degree is encouraged for senior level positions. Marketing is also very flexible and offer positions remotely as well so it can be a stay at home career.

Family in the field

A few of my uncles and cousins are actually in the marketing field right now. When I told them about what I wanted to major in one of my cousins mentioned that he worked in that field and if I had any questions I could talk to him about it. He said he really likes the flexibility in the field. In his current position he is able to work from home and he enjoys being able to work remotely. He didnt really mention what he disliked about the field.

Public Speaking

One class required for Marketing majors is a public speaking course. I am currently taking OLPD 1461 Presentations in the work setting. Since I already took this class in my first semester I dont have to take another public speaking course. OLPD is also offered next semester since it is a pre requisite for the Marketing Major.

My passion

I really like the flexibility in the field. I like having the ability to choose being in a remote position or work in an office space or both. I also really like how there are many paths I can take in this field if i choose to do so. Right now I am really interested in social media managing and coordinating because working in social media is something I am really interested in. All in all, marketing is something I see myself pursuing.
