To improve my stamina by April

I have been able to complete my first goal by doing as many physical activities as I can. I have completed many activities to help build up my stamina, this includes me joining my local gym, taking part in other classes and even swimming. After researching I decided to make a plan, finding out which activities target this specific area. When joining the gym I felt as though it was going to take an extremely long time for me to feel and notice a difference in my stamina however after my fourth week of attending I noticed that when going full out in commercial classes I was not as exhausted as I used to be as i attended another class straight after. When in the second commercial class I was extremely exhausted however I still felt as though I could further push myself to keep going and that I did. I reminded myself that in order for me to feel a difference I have to keep getting pushing myself further otherwise no change would happen, this motivated me to work even harder.

When attending the gym I focused more on cardio I did this by using machines such as the treadmill and the bike, After researching more about my stamina and how i can approve it I found that increasing the speed and timing each session helps me push myself further for the next time which is also a fact stated by Will Treadmill Help Increase Stamina, But What Workouts To Do? - May 2022, (2022). In order to keep track I noted down on my phone the time and speed that I finished with, this was done at the end of each session allowing me to increase the time and speed for next time round.

Another way I was able to complete this goal was by swimming every Thursday night with my sister. I found that having someone come with me allowed me to keep motivated as it also meant I could spend some quality time with her also. From the first time swimming to now I can see how much I have developed my stamina. During my first time swimming laps I struggled to keep going as it was dropping rapidly after two laps of the pool however within the next week I was determined to carry on until I could no longer, each week I go I attempt to stay for an hour and a half until i feel my body become tired. Another thing I tried was the aqua fit classes. Doing this allowed me to get used to being in the water as I have never been a big swimmer, it also helped with my muscles as its easy on my joints after a long day of dance but still helps me stay physically active.

This goal has been really good for me physically and mentally as its allowed me to take time to work on myself and my health. It also helped me to achieve my target overall. Due to the progress I have made I want to proceed to improve my stamina until it is the best it can be, I will achieve this by continuing with my swimming and gym sessions, When researching for improvements on stamina I came across suggestions like taking dance classes would help build your stamina. Its stated by Soldo and Soldo (2022) that taking dance classes will be define in helping you improve your stamina as it gets you used to dancing for long periods of times.

To gain confidence when dancing to an audience

This is one of my hardest targets as I feel I will never be 100% confidence when dancing as its my weakest skills however since my last dance performance my confidence has grew.

Another way I achieved this goal was by listening to constructive criticism. This allowed me to work on the flaws other people saw in my dance, this allowed me to get a better understanding of what I needed to improve on, after finding out the parts that needed the improving I would then get someone who did it better to record it and send it to me.
When researching ways to help me gain confidence I found that 'playing a part' allows you to dance confidently as your playing a confident person even if you are feeling very insecure. As stated by How To Dance With More Confidence | STEEZY Blog (2022) specifying the role will make it easier to perform.

Decreasing my stress levels to help focus on my work

Another target I achieved was being able to find ways to lower my stress levels, I managed to achieve this by finding what calms me down and what raises my anxiety. I found that when not understanding coursework I would always leave it till last minute instead of asking for help, Doing this would leave me feeling stressed and I would just not do it. A way in which I found helped was to start my work with what I knew was right and then I would proceed until I came to a stopping point.
When doing coursework I always find that being at home was bad for me as I was always tempted to shut my laptop and do something less important. So instead of doing this I made plans to sit in coffee shops and have study sessions with my friends who also have work to do. This allowed me to be in a lively environment which helped boost my energy.

Another way that helped decrease my stress was by taking long walks around the fields by my house, as stated by (40 Simple And Brilliant Ways To Relax and De-stress, 2022) a walk is simple and is great for "reflection and mind wandering". Doing this gave me the opportunity to get away from home and breath in some air, allowing me clear my mind. This goal was rather achievable however if I have had a long day at college I struggle to find the motivation however I have made sure to motivate myself to continue even after a long day of work.

I found that using apps such as kalm, headspace and rain sounds help me focus on one thing at a time, when attempting to focus on coursework I have found that listening to simple rain sounds allows me to concentrate and gives my brain a moment away from the stress. According to (Why does the sound of rain make you sleepy? - Pluviophile, 2022) its been found that listening to rain sounds can unconsciously relax your entire body. Underneath are the apps I use to help keep my anxiety at bay.

To submit all my drama schools applications and self tapes

I have been able to complete this goal. I have done this by writing up a checklist of all the deadlines for the Universities I applied for. Doing this was relatively easy as I made sure to pre plan all my audition tapes. I wrote down a schedule with all the important information I needed to know such as deadlines, what I needed to include in my self tape and lastly what song, script and chorography I wanted to use in the tape. This goal was achievable as I made sure to be organised with each tape. Due to the lack of room in my house I often found the timetabled lesson so that I knew when the dance studio was free. This gave me the freedom to use them without worrying of someone interrupting.

Another way in which this was achieved was by creating my UCAS account, this had helped me keep track of any updates or changes. According to (What is UCAS?, 2022) UCAS is a "UCAS is an independent charity providing information, advice, and admissions services." Using UCAS allowed me to keep on track of my applications, If any changes were made i would receive and email meaning I had time to quickly update, or making any changes if needed.

To gain confidence when dancing

A way in which I found helped me out was recording the dance pieces I needed to learn and started by going over and over them again. This allowed me to be confidence within the dance so I wouldn't have to worry about forgetting it when on stage performing. I do this with nearly every single dance piece I have , for example I have show on the 27th April in which I am dancing in a trio and duet, these dances will be performed to a live audience. When rehearsing I am making sure I record all the new parts so that when I am home I am able to go over any parts of the routine I am unsure of, I also attempt see if I can learn them for next rehearsal. This helps my confidence a lot as if I feel confidence with in routine I know I will feel confident when in front of an audience.

Above this text I have attached two dance clips. Both started as the same dance however after re-choregraphing was changed. This is why I keep recording of all dances imply due to any chances that may be made.
