I often share my struggles as a child including home life, abuse, and educational impacts as a result. I then show them that even when I thought that I could never over come them, I did, and I still work on being and growing daily; both emotionally, and in my career. I love making those connections and relationships with my students. That's very important to me and I truly believe that a child can not reach their full potential , without at least one cheerleader in their corner. I strive to be that person.

Help them to Believe: Helping them build on their social emotional learning and helping them to feel confident, safe, and at home within my classroom as well as our school community. As well as focusing on teaching and focusing on the WHOLE child , as opposed to just what they score on assessments; I believe that only then can a child truly have the tools they need to be successful.

Achieve: Teaching them and guiding them through their learning. Helping them to realize that no matter what their goal is, they can achieve them with the tools that they learn in school as well as the relationships they build. Guiding them through setting goals for them selves, as we know, not all goals work for every child; as well as making sure that , that students as the interventions put in place to help them reach those goals, should they need them.

Persevere: Help students to realize that I'm always in their corner, no matter what is happening at home. That together we can work hard to help them reach their goals. That no matter what challenges they face at home, or in school they are smart enough, they are strong enough, and they CAN do it. Regardless of their background or what they have gone through or have been told about themselves.
