Interesting to hear that we share the same experiences when it comes to school policy and European Development Plans. We write them, the headmasters sign them and then they are forgotten about. Today’s lesson reminded me that I have to go home and, together with my colleagues, look at our international school policy once again
and try to get it published on our school website, so all can benefit from it and about responsible for it to be followed.

Today our session focused on European Development Plans. A European development plan is a strategic view of your school’s plans for European activities and needed for your Erasmus+ applications. The EDshould include an overview of your school’s current status, a vision for the future, identified needs (how you will get from where you are now to where you want to be) and how your planned activities will meet these needs. The European development plan should give a context for your Erasmus + application, and focus on internationalisation and modernisation, identifying staff development needs and making sure that information is disseminated and widely used.

And most important: the EDP should not only exist on the paper (the Erasmus+ application), much more it should be widely agreed on with all colleagues and the school board. Only in this way it will be sustainable and effective.

How to introduce international policy into the curriculum?
I think the first step is rather to introduce it to the colleagues and to make them aware of how important it is for the children to get this kind of education from every teacher in each subject.
The best way to do that is to make our colleagues attend a seminar like this, so that we are more than two teachers at our school who can disseminate international policy. And that's what we intend to do when we come back.
