According to this legend, every president, who is elected during years whose last number is zero, is doomed to die, during his mandate. The curse dates back to the wars between indians and americans. The author of the malediction was the indian leader Shawnee Tecumseh, who launched his curse after several defeats that also costed him his life. In 1931, Robert Ripley, a writer, noticed a curious coincidence: the curse seemed real for some of president. The first president who died because of this malediction was William Henry Harrison, who died of pneumonia in 1841, just one year after his eletion. He also was the general against who Tecumseh fought. Since 1840, the Tecumseh’s curse hit the president every 20 years. Other six presidens died after Harrison: Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley, Warren Harding, Franklin Delano Roosvelt, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Abraham Lincoln was killed by John Wikes Booth, who was political opponent, who didn’t agree with the president’s ideas, for example the end of slavery. James Garfield was killed too. He died in an attack, just one years after his election. The name of his murderer was Charles Guiteau, who was an unemployed men. The third president who died was William McKinley, who was shot by an anarchist. Then, Warren Harding died for natural causes. He had an infarct in 1923. Franklin Delano Roosvelt died for natural causes too. He had a cerebral hemorrhage at the end of WWII, when he was at the end of his fourth mandate, in 1945. Last president who was hit by the curse was John Fitzgerald Kennedy. He was murdered during a visit in Dallas. His assassin was Lee Harvey Oswald, who shot him, in 1963. These events are coincidences. For example, Roosvelt himself was elected several times before his death.
