The fear exposed by the poem about the the extremes that impact on man and nature are of the inability and lack of control man has over his situation. Evident in the constant vowel sound regardless of the force "fire" or "ice". This implies the eternal dominance of nature over all things. It provokes the idea the authority of nature being a constant in all things, it is beyond the social constructs of man, who have little control over it. The reaction is illustrated by the disinterested, apathetic tone of the persona, the irony is despite the disinterested nature of the persona's delivery, the persona still puts a stake the argument over the end of the world, leaning towards fire, while still, in a sense, praising ice.

The fear exposed though the persona conflict with the extreme remedies of nature. The juxtaposition of "fire" and "ice" highlights the dangers in which nature can impact man kind as both can destroy a human but are completely opposite. Furthermore the repetition of "I' creates an atmosphere which highlights the personas selfishness besides the fact of the world ending, thus conveys the reaction of mankind in accordance with nature

When we are faced with various extremes, we can be incredibly destructive. In Frost's poem Fire and Ice, the fear that is exposed in the poem is the idea of the world ending. Frost compares this to nature to express the underlying purpose of the poem, which is the exploration of the spectrum of human emotions. The protagonist is shown with a lack of control of this apocalyptic event through the constant repetition of the vowel "i". The "i" in fire and ice, creates an almost selfish, greedy insight as it appreciates hat the end of the world will either way be a result of human's actions and selfishness

Anthony Bou-Chebl

The fear of the the end of the world is almost paradoxical in the sense that the power of nature; "fire" and "ice", has the ability to annihilate the human race, causing great grief but this is juxtaposed ironically when the protagonist states that the end of the world "would suffice" conveying his almost praise for this judgement day due to the state of society, attempting to theoretically bring a fresh start to mankind, either by "ice" or "fire"
