         <description><![CDATA[<div>How long memories last&nbsp;<br>LTM = Over 30 seconds - infinite&nbsp;<br>The research to support this was done by Bahrick et al (1975)<br>He showed 400 participants between 17-74 a set of photos and a list of names, some of which were ex school friends. Those who'd left school in the last 15 years identified 90% of faces and names, while those who'd left 48 years previously identified 80% of names and 70% of faces. Suggesting memory for faces is long lasting&nbsp;<br>Evaluation&nbsp;<br>- Information is not necessarily 'lost', there may just be an issue in the retrieval of the information<br>- The type of testing techniques may affect the findings as recall is often better when asking to recognise stimuli rather than recalling stimuli <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>How much memory you can hold in that store<br>LTM= Unlimited, losses may occur but this is due to interference not due to limitation of capacity.&nbsp;<br>Research to support this was done by Anokhin(1973). He estimated the possible number of neural connections in the human brain to be 1 followed by 10.5 million Km of noughts. He concluded that no human exists that can use the full potential of their brain. This suggests that the capacity of LTM is limitless as no research has been able able t determine a finite capacity.&nbsp;<br>Evaluation<br>- The capacity is assumed to be limitless as there is no research to support there being a limited capacity</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>How&nbsp;the memory is stored and how it gets to being stored<br>LTM= mainly semantic (by meaning), other codes are used aswell&nbsp;<br>Research to support this was done by Frost(1972)<br>He gave participants 16 drawings in 4 categories (e.g. animals) differing in visual orientation(e.g. angle of viewing perspective). The order of which they were recalled suggested that participants used visual and semantic coding which provided evidence for the coding used in the LTM.&nbsp;<br>Evaluation<br>- It's difficult to see how smells and tastes can be coded semantically and reason suggests songs are encoded acoustically which supports the idea that there are multiple forms of encoding in LTM<br>-&nbsp;Different types use different areas of the brain suggesting they are coded in different ways which means there are varying forms of coding in LTM</div>]]></description>
