I've experience having a student that is really uninterested in learning. He is always taking picture of himself and sending it to the chat box. It's during the entire lesson. The thing I do is I am thinking of a best strategy I can use to catch his attention. I found a teddy bear. As I open my camera the first thing he can see is my Teddy not my face so I can see in his face that he likes it. He loves to learn with my Teddy so the lesson ends with a good ending.

When dealing with students who display a passive attitude, like appearing sleepy and disinterested in class, it's very crucial to approach the situation with care and consider some human-centered strategies like making sure students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and concerns without judgment, taking time to understand each student's unique needs and interests. Some may have specific learning styles or preferences that, when accommodated, can increase engagement, talking to the student to understand what might be causing their disinterest. It could be personal issues, lack of sleep, or difficulty understanding the material and show how the subject matter is relevant to their everyday lives. When students see the practical applications of what they're learning, they're more likely to engage.

I have learnt a strategy for this in a parenting book. Any negative behaviour can be changed into a positive behaviour by making it into a game. Eg. if the hyperactive child is not sitting still, play a quick game with them such as, "Let's see who can stand up and sit down the most times in 10 seconds." After the game, they will be more focused and you can guide them back to the lesson.

My strategy in this situation is I lower my voice suddenly like whisper then change again into normal or ask him to do signs (knock) if repeat, (thumbs up) if he understood. (thumbs down) if he doesn't understand. I'll make sure that his attention is on me by making my class exciting and fun. Rewards are the best too.. :-D -Shiela
