The definition of the American dream has changed in the past and does not fit quite well for the young generations of this time.

Here is why:

·       Contentious presidential campaign (the first settlers didn't have many different opinions or big reasons to have different thoughts)
·       International terrorism
·       In the time of the racial segregation the „American dream“ wasn't open for everyone. (e.g. Black people and (in a different context) women)
·       Many obstacles to overcome: one of them are high costs for a college education.
·       Uncertain economic conditions and high unemployment rate.
